Send up to 5 original, unpublished poems. Poems available online are considered published.
Length guidelines: Max 45 lines, but poems can be longer if individual line length is short; bear in mind your poem will be split over two, three, or four panels; several short, related poems are just as welcome as a single, longer work. Bottom line: Space in each book is finite, but flexible.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome; please notify us as soon as possible if you've placed submitted work elsewhere by leaving a note in Submittable.
Please submit all poems as a single document and wait for a response before submitting another group of poems. If you wish to be read anonymously, do not include your name within the submitted file or in the file's title. We make every effort to read and respond within 2 months.
We acquire first serial rights; all rights revert to the poet upon publication and we ask that you credit Architrave should the poem be reprinted elsewhere. Poets receive 5 copies of their poem's 50 copy run. Poets are free to sell their copies independently (or keep them, or give them to friends...).
It is our goal to reclaim poetry for non-poet readers. To that end, we seek work that has an element of story or an intriguing speaker, as well as a solid emotional core. Please help us prove that accessible poems don't have to be simplistic, boring or safe.
